| STAGE SCHOOL HAMBURG | STUDY PROGRAM | WORKSHOPS/SEMINARS | SPECIAL LINKS | |
DevelopmentIt all started when actor Volker Ullmann and his wife, dancer Manelle Ullmann, opened a small but innovative school in a charming Hamburg back-yard. The school was named the Stage School of Dance and Drama. In the 1980s, the program was further developed by the successful musical stars and stage performers Kim Moke, Gillian Scalici and John Vernon Baer. When Kim Moke took over as sole artistic director in 1997, musicals were booming. Nonetheless, she and general manager Thomas Gehle decided to raise the school's standards and to introduce a more extensive range of subjects in order to better meet students' individual needs as well as the requirements of contemporary stage productions. Today the Stage School Hamburg provides a multifaceted spectrum of skills and qualifications, ranging from its three-year vocational program to seminars, workshops and day courses. Through partnerships and investments, the Stage School Hamburg has grown into a complex entertainment enterprise with four training locations in Hamburg. The Stage School's high standards and excellent reputation are known far beyond Germany's borders. International entertainment enterprises rely on the expertise of the Stage School when holding castings and auditions here. In 2005, an intensive competence transfer, involving teacher and student exchanges, was agreed upon with the world-famous Peking Opera. The "stagepage" provides information about the development of individual projects and activities of the Stage School Hamburg. Current and past issues are available as downloads.
