Are internships available at the Stage School?

No, the Stage School does not provide internships.

Does the Stage School have branches in other cities?

No, the Stage School exists only in Hamburg. However, we hold our workshops all over Germany.

Workshops

What is the age requirement for workshops?

The minimum age for the Intensive Workshops is 14, and 12 for the one-day Stage School courses. In exceptional cases and with appropriate previous experience, the minimum age may be lower. There is no upper age limit.

What previous experience is required for a workshop at the Stage School?

Basically, the more previous experience one has, the easier it is to take part in the workshop. Special experience is not absolutely necessary. So anyone who enjoys training can take part.

What is the average age of the workshop participants?

People from 12 to 45 participate in the workshops. The average age is generally between 16 and 24.

How can I find out about free places in a workshop? ?

As long as the event is still presented on our website, there are still free places for this workshop, and you can still register.

But even if the workshop is already full, it can help to register on the ‘wish list’.

When is the Intensive Workshop recognized as an alternative to the entrance examination?

This does not need to be decided before registration. On the first day of the workshop, participants are asked whether they are interested in a program at the Stage School Hamburg; these participants then receive a name tag marked with a red dot. This tells the teachers which people should receive particular attention. At the end of the workshop, the teachers independently issue an evaluation of each participant. This recommendation determines who has a realistic chance of taking part in a program at the Stage School.

Questions about the study program

What school leaving qualification do I need to study at the Stage School? ?

Ideally, applicants have an ‘Abitur’ (high school diploma), a ‘Fachabitur’ (vocational degree) or a secondary school leaving certificate, while foreign students require an equivalent diploma. In exceptional cases, completed vocational training is sufficient.

What is the minimum age requirement to begin studies at the Stage School?

The minimum age for participation in the entrance exam is 16. Moreover, participants must demonstrate that they have the intellectual and emotional maturity to meet program demands.

What do I need to do to start at the Stage School?

In order to start at the Stage School, you must take part in either the regular entrance examination or an Intensive Workshop. The school decides in consultation with the participating teachers who may attend the school.

Is it possible to study only singing?

No. Graduates' interdisciplinary skills are key to our program. A purely dance, singing or acting-oriented course of study is not possible. Third-year students, however, may focus on a particular area of study.

Is the Stage School a private school with fees?

Yes, the Stage School is an accredited private school whose students are entitled to the non-repayable BAföG (a student grant under the Federal Training Assistance Act). More information is available on page Costs.
